Marketing Opportunities for Local Producers

The Agriculture and Seafood Division works to:

  • Expand local producer access to local and regional markets.
  • Promote and market the diversity of locally grown and value-added products, and agritourism opportunities
  • Help coordinate and manage County-sponsored farmers markets:
    • Home Grown Market-south of Lexington Park
    • California Farmers Market on MD 235
    • North St. Mary's County Farmers Market
  • Collaborate on regional marketing efforts
  • Support retention, growth and opportunities for new of local and regional markets and businesses necessary to maintain profitable local production (e.g., shared farm equipment and supplies, value-added processing of cheese, meat, beer, wine and spirits) and opportunities (e.g., pick your own patches and orchards, corn and sunflower mazes, school trips, develop commissary kitchens for food trucks/vendors offering local fare, support cottage and on-farm production)
